About Me
Raised in a west-side suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, I grew up in a household where school always came first. I worked through a rigorous high school curriculum full of AP and advanced math, science and history courses to earn a scholarship to DePaul University. At DePaul, I completed a 5 Year Accelerated Bachelor/Master Program in Economics and Policy Analysis. I currently work as an Account Representative at Groupon, Inc. I believe hard work always pays off and have reinforced that through successful academic and professional careers
My prior chicago">tutoring experience came at DePaul University. There I was a Supplemental Instruction leader and Economics Department chicago">tutor. As a Supplemental Instruction leader, I was responsible for holding 3, one-hour review sessions per week for Mathematics, Accounting, and Economics courses. They were both one on one and group chicago">tutoring sessions. As a chicago">tutor for the Economics Department I tutored students who needed extra help or practice outside of the classroom.
There are two main areas I try and concentrate on when I am with students. First, their critical thinking skills. This entails letting them arrive at their own conclusions and answers. In order to learn how to think critically and analyze problems students need to be asked open ended questions that allow them arrive at answers without them being given directly to them. The other main focus of my chicago">tutoring is establishing good habits. Note taking, test taking, and solid study habits are integral in any academic setting. Equipping a student with study tools like visual aids, outlines, study plans, and organization techniques allows them to identify the best way they learn and retain the information presented to them in their courses.
