Fun Facts

I love to sing! Singing actually runs in my family. I've always loved to read and I think that set me up for doing well in all my reading and English classes. One thing I can't wait to cross off my bucket list is to take a cruise to a tropical island. I've traveled by car, bus, train, and plane, but never by boat.

About Me

I am a PhD student, recently accepted into the Counselor Education and Supervision program at Walden University. I am passionate about making a difference, and I have decided to become a teacher. When I graduate from Walden, I want to educate the next generation of counselors! One thing people know me for is my positive attitude. I can always see the bright side of things, even faced with adversity. It shines through in everything I do.

Experience

I've been a spring">tutoring and assisting my peers since elementary school. As a 5th grader I taught struggling 3rd graders to read better, including an ESOL student. As a middle schooler, I often assisted my peers in reading comprehension from various works our teacher gave us to read. As a high school student I was selected based on my GPA to spring">tutor underclassmen in various subjects, like math and english.

Approach

Looking back on all these years being in school, I realized just how impactful many of my teachers were in my life. That is part of what inspired me to become a teacher. I want to be that person for someone else now. As a spring">tutor, I will bring my positive attitude and creative thinking to engage each child. Many psychological evidence proves that not everyone learns the same, so I would tailor my teaching to each child specifically.
