Fun Facts

My two biggest hobbies are playing soccer and video games. I am both very athletic but extremely geeky. I am the oldest of five siblings and usually travel between San Antonio and Dallas on the weekends. I also enjoy dancing even though I haven't done so in a while.

About Me

I have recently finished my pre-engineering courses at Lee College and am planning to attend University of Texas in San Antonio for engineering. Preferably something in the programming field.

Experience

I have two years of tutoring experience as an AVID tutor for Goose Creek Memorial High School and usually helped students with math homework and some physics and sciences. I also spent time at my college library helping out students when they needed help before a test. I am hoping that this is a new opportunity to be able to help students with their work and maybe even change their view on studying.

Approach

Throughout high school I noticed that many teachers do not teach their students a conceptual approach on different subjects. They teach mostly about specific circumstances instead of actually helping them understand their overall subject. As a tutor I will do my best to help students understand not only their problem, but their topic altogether so that way they will be able to understand problems that may be on future assignments.

Calculus I Tutoring

I have taken calculus one through three and am very comfortable with Calculus one. Having made only a B I still feel like I have a strong understanding with derivatives and limits.I was an AVID tutor and helped many seniors who were going to take the AP test for college credit. As an engineering major calculus is also an important class since most of an engineer's courses involve math.

College Algebra Tutoring

Although I tested out of this class when I first entered college, I took this class anyways and got an A. Since I was caught up to what we were doing in class I often helped out the other students in the library and helped others pass. As mentioned before math is an important part in any field of engineering.

Math Tutoring

I have taken Algebras 1 through 3 including college algebra, Geometry, Statistics, High school and college pre-algebra, and Calculus 1 through 3. I have a lot of experience tutoring math since I was actually working as an AVID math tutor for two years and have also continued helping college students from time to time in math. Math is a big part of engineering which is why I've already taken so many math courses.

Algebra Tutoring

I took high school algebra in eight grade and have always helped students with Algebra. One of my strongest math subjects having taken high school algebra 1 and algebra 2 and also college algebra making an A on all. You may check my college transcript for my College Algebra grade. I also was also a high school math tutor.

Algebra II Tutoring

As mentioned before, I have taken high school Algebra 1 and 2 and even college Algebra. I also worked as an AVID tutor and helped many students with Algebra. I made an A in all of my Algebra classes as well. Algebra is a very important course for engineering majors since most engineering majors mostly focus on math and sciences.

Calculus Tutoring

I have taken Calculus 1 through 3 and made a B in all of them. I have tutored Calculus 1 to seniors in high school and feel comfortable in helping students in this subject. Calculus 1 through 3 are very necessary classes needed in the engineering field.

Geometry Tutoring

Although I haven't taken geometry since freshman year in high school, I have had a lot of experience tutoring high school students in geometry. A lot of the basics in physics revolve around the things you learn in geometry.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

I have taken Pre Algebra in high school and made an A. Since I mainly tutored math as an AVID tutor I have a lot of experience teaching junior and senior students in high school. Pre Algebra is a very basic and simple math but it is essential in learning more advanced math courses.

Spanish I Tutoring

I am fluent in Spanish it being my first language and also took the class in eight grade. I have also taken Spanish 1 through 3 and have even received college credit in Spanish through an AP test. I don't have too much experience in tutoring Spanish, just a bit of help here and there when people need help in their essays. Spanish doesn't have too much to do with engineering but it is always useful to know two languages or more.

Spanish II Tutoring

As I mentioned before I have taken Spanish 1 through 3 in high school and have even received college credit through an AP test. I don't have as much experience tutoring Spanish as I do math but I feel comfortable enough in Spanish to be able to help with proofreading sentences and maybe helping with essays. Although knowing two languages isn't essential it is always very helpful to know more then one regardless of your major.

English Tutoring

Over the years I have done fairly well in my English courses even taking an honors English course in my freshman year of college. In my time as an AVID tutor I was able to help students edit and revise their essays. My engineering teacher always makes it clear to make sure to know how to properly write essays.

Math Advance Tutoring

Math Advance consists of learning a lot of things from Pre Algebra and Geometry, both subjects I have passed with ease. Although I haven't tutored middle school students, I should be able to help in advanced math classes since I have tutored in many math subjects in the past. Engineering requires a lot of math and physics.

Middle School Math Tutoring

I have taken advanced math courses from math in middle school to calculus 3 in college. I have tutored high school students in all math courses including algebra which is what middle school math consists of. Engineering consists of a lot of science and math courses which is why I feel comfortable in tutoring in these subjects.

Spanish Tutoring

In middle school I took a credit by exam and passed it so I could just skip to Spanish 2 once I entered high school. I have taken Spanish 1 through 3 and have received college credit in Spanish. I have also helped a few students in proofreading their essays and also revising them. It is always good to know more than one language regardless of the field you're in.

Elementary Math Tutoring

I have taken Pre Algebra, Algebras 1 through 3, Geometry, Pre Calculus (high school and college), and Calculus 1 through 3. I tutored high school students in most of these math courses for two years so I feel comfortable tutoring in this field. As mentioned before math is very essential in the engineering field so I feel like math is a subject that I should be very familiar with.
