Fun Facts

My favorite thing about math is that it is a universal language. In my opinion, fortune cookies make better jokes than fortunes. One day I hope to write a comic book. I love animals. When I was little, I started my own company and made $200+ a year selling scented pine cones around the holidays. I can play the flute. Science fiction and romance novels are my favorite kinds of books. I'm trying to learn Japanese in my free time.

About Me

Currently, I am in the John V. Roach Honor’s College and I have a Dean’s Scholarship at TCU. I am currently a writing and accounting double major with a minor in Asian studies. I am on the Dean's List for my Writing major. My favorite subjects are English (writing and literature) and math. Next semester I will be classified as a junior. Also, I made a 5 on my Calculus I AP test. I am learning Mandarin Chinese and I already know Spanish to a small degree.

In high school, I helped my calculus class with their arithmetic and basic math. I've helped one of my neighbors with her math-middle-school/texas/fort-worth">middle school math. Also, I guided my friend through his first year of calculus.

First, I let them try the problem. If they don’t get the right answer, for math, I ask them to look over their work and try fixing the problem. If they do not see their problem by the third attempt, I help point out the problem and show them how to fix it. For reading and writing, I encourage the student to look up words they don’t know. Also, I recommend books that their age group finds interesting in hopes of increasing their vocabulary and understanding of the written language. For reading, after the student reads a chapter or a really vividly described scene, I will ask them to kind of sketch/draw out what they think the chapter or scene would look like.
