Fun Facts

I speak 5 languages! Spanish, Swedish, and German are my best languages and I would say that I speak them at an intermediate level. I also know a bit of Russian and American Sign Language, although I would rate them at a novice level. I absolutely love learning languages and hope that everyone gets the opportunity to learn a foreign language. The main reason I know so many languages is because I have lived in 4 other countries.

About Me

I am a Chemistry Education major at the University of Oklahoma and hope to teach High School Chemistry after graduating. I am very passionate about Chemistry and I hope that I can make this tough subject a little easier and more fun for students.

Experience

During my senior year in high school, I was a peer mentor for the Butte County Behavioral Department peer mentor program. I also participated in their Friday Night Live program that supported ATOD (Alcohol, Tobacco, and other Drugs) prevention at the high school level. When I was a peer mentor, I advised 7th & 8th graders and helped them with their homework. Even in college, I have lead study sessions with classmates from various subjects. Helping and tutoring is quite enjoyable for me!

Approach

Since I moved so much, 10 times by age 18, I went to a lot of schools. However, I was able to learn from many different teachers and that made me realize that every teacher teaches differently and every student learns differently. It is my hope that I can approach a subject with a student in a way that they truly understand. More than that, I hope I can give them the proper tools they'll need for a successful future, whether that is in college or a career.
