I'm a kid at heart. I enjoy watching cartoons and being silly and wacky when time permits. I'm always smiling because things can never be that bad. I love spending time with family and friends. I also love to hike and run. Being active helps to get me going and makes my day better.
About Me
I'm twenty-two years old and have lived in Phoenix, AZ for most of my life. I did spend my early years in Guatemala, which is where my parents are from. I love phoenix">tutoring and mentoring kids. I've always managed to be involved in mentoring kids in some way throughout my entire academic career. Being a positive resource to them is rewarding in itself. As far as career goals, I would love to work in screenwriting, particularly for children's television.
I was a writing phoenix">tutor at ASU's Writing Center on the Downtown Campus. I tutored and worked with students for an entire academic year, often working with regulars. We worked on different aspects of the writing process. Whether it was formulating ideas, revision of drafts, thesis strengthening, structure/grammar, or formatting concerns, I made sure the student got attention on the specific issue he/she was having.
One thing I am a big believer on when it comes to phoenix">tutoring sessions is that the tutee should always leave having learned something, no matter how basic or complex it may be. That's why I never just proofread papers and added commas where they needed to go. I ensured that we focus on the primary issue that the student was having. Maybe the student believed his paragraphs didn't flow well; that called for special attention to fluency and cohesion. Overall, I always made the student feel comfortable during the session. Sometimes, asking for help can be an intimidating act, but if the phoenix">tutor lets the student know that they're in a positive, helpful environment, everything goes great! Plus, it never hurts to add a little fun to the process.
