About Me
I am currently a First Grade Dual Language teacher about 1 hr Northwest of Chicago. I teach all day in Spanish since my students are still learning English. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Education from Illinois State University. I majored in Bilingual Elementary Education and minored in Spanish.
Experience
All throughout college, I tutored elementary level students. I also student taught in multiple grade levels. I have experience with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades. I have tutored in all subject areas and obviously teach all subjects areas in my own classroom. I have volunteered my time at after school programs and have tutored and mentored children there as well. I'm excited to continue to teach students outside of my classroom!
Approach
I am a very positive individual when it comes to learning new things. I love to encourage students and get them excited about their own learning. I believe that students need to take ownership of their own learning so that they can see what they are truly capable of. This year, I have seen students struggle to read at the beginning of the year but now, they are reading books all by themselves! I have seen this improvement through positive encouragement and persistence.
