Fun Facts

I am passionate about languages, not only English but also Spanish, German and French. I studied English literature but also studied German in high school and Spanish in college. I also love playing and listening to music. I have played guitar for 3 years and recently started playing the piano. Since I am a cat lover, I have volunteered at the Placer SPCA. In additional to music and language I love art.

About Me

I recently completed student teaching at Wheatland Union High School and just received my single subject English credential. I am an MAT candidate at William Jessup University. I expect my teaching credential in June 2017. Previously, I completed my MBA through Strayer University. I am a lifelong leaner. I plan to continue teaching English and business in the future.

Experience

After working in customer service, i started my teaching experience as a substitute teacher. I realized that teaching was my calling and that in order to make more of an impact on my students I needed to become a full-time teacher instead of only a substitute. I got accepted into MAT program in which I get my teaching credential with a Master's Degree. I am now at the end stage of student teaching. Working as a tutor, I would get the pleasure of working one on one with my students.

Approach

I believe in order to best help my student reach their potential I must first get to know them and build trust. Once I get to know them, I can use their preferred learning styles to help them succeed. You must also identify and take advantage of a student's strengths to work on improving their weaknesses. You should start and end with a positive approach to maintain motivation. Teaching effective learning strategies to comprehend and retain subject matter is essential for success as a tutor
