I love to dance and sing and music in general. I especially have interest in Bollywood, and Bollywood music. I also play beginner piano, and I used to play basketball in high school.

About Me

I'm hardworking, I love to help and I love kids (a lot)! I have a brother 10 years younger than me who means a lot to me and most of the activities I've participated in for both college and high school have had to do with children. I took Bharatnatyam and Bollywood dance lessons for many years, as well as for Carnatic music. I also sang in choirs in school and like to participate in a lot of community service clubs. I like to see that I'm actively making a difference.

In high school, I was part of the philadelphia">Tutoring Society and also got some experience through the National Honors Society. I worked in Kumon as a philadelphia">tutor for about 9 months, from January 2012 to September/October 2012, where I helped kids ranging from 5 years old to high school in math and science by teaching them new methods, grading homework/tests, etc. I also have been philadelphia">tutoring math and english to inner city middle school students in Philadelphia as part of the Lindy Scholar program at Drexel University. We visit their school every Monday and Wednesday and they come to our school every other Saturday; this is both a philadelphia">tutoring and mentoring job. I have previously developed lesson plans and taught at elementary schools on a one-day basis, but that I enjoyed that a lot.

My approach has always been to understand the person before trying to fix the problem. I usually try to see why they're not understanding something, or maybe if they can understand but they're distracted or unable to focus. I also try to talk to them about things they like or how their day was before getting into the work, just to lighten the atmosphere. I also like to constantly change my method of teaching to find what works best for the student.
