Fun Facts
One of my favorite things to do in life is reading! I try to read a book a week and I also love teaching this subject! I have traveled all over the world and have lived and taught in Prague, London and South Korea. I love trying out new foods and I was even convinced once to try live octopus! I was also fortunate enough to once work as the Assistant to American Paintings Curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Art and Art History are passions of mine!
About Me
I have recently moved to Portland, Oregon and am a former Middle School Language Arts and Learning Center teacher, as well as a longtime tutor for English Literature, Reading and Writing, Study Skills and Test Prep. I have an undergraduate Degree in Art History and English from Tufts University and I have a Masters in Teaching of English from Columbia University in New York City. My dream is to continue to work with wonderful students and help them realize both personal and academic goals.
Experience
I have over seven years of both classroom teaching and tutoring experience. I hold a Masters Degree in Teaching of English from Columbia University and have taught students ranging from first grade through high school. I have also taught college level students in ESL (English as a Second Language) and am TEOFL certified through the Oxford University Program in Prague. I have mainly taught English, ESL and have significant experience working with students in need of study skills support.
Approach
One of the reasons that I was hired as the Language Arts and Learning Center teacher at the Francis Parker School in San Diego was my ability to work with students who needed extra support in multiple areas of academic life. I am very skilled in differentiated instruction and strongly believe that students who range from kinesthetic to verbal learners, or who just face challenges with executive functioning skills- every lifelong learner will soar once they find the right approach!

I have extensive experience in tutoring for these exams working as a tutor both for One Smart Kid, LLC in San Francisco and tutoring after school while working for the Francis Parker School in San Diego. I am familiar with current content and extended time students as well.
ESL/ESOL Tutoring
I hold a TEOFL certification and have multiple years of teaching experience both abroad and in the United States teaching TEOFL, administering exams and teaching whole class and individual tutoring. I have worked for the ESL Language School in San Francisco, KLC Krystof in Prague, CZ and tutored ELS for many years independently.
ISEE Tutoring
I have extensive experience in tutoring for these exams working as a tutor both for One Smart Kid, LLC in San Francisco and the Francis Parker School in San Diego. My students have gone on to be accepted at top private schools in both of these cities and I have references from both parents and students to attest to this. I also have 3 years of experience as a test administrator for these exams while I was a full-time teacher for Language Arts at the Francis Parker School. I am familiar with current content and extended time students as well.
SSAT Tutoring
I have extensive experience in tutoring for these exams working as a tutor both for One Smart Kid, LLC in San Francisco and the Francis Parker School in San Diego. My students have earned continually high level scores for this exam and I have references from both parents and students to attest to this. I have extensive experience in tutoring for these exams working as a tutor both for One Smart Kid, LLC in San Francisco and Menlo-Atherton High School in San Francisco.My students have consistently delivered high level reading scores for this exam due to the daily in-class and one to one test prep and tutoring with me. from both parents and students to attest to this. I also have solid experience with test administration for this exam.
