Fun Facts

I absolutely love problem solving in any and every way. I am an avid rubik's cuber and am always looking for new puzzles to solve. I have rock climbed for six years, both indoors and outdoors, and in both competition and recreation. I am a very hands on person. I recently made a steel guitar and am now working on constructing a stand up arcade machine.

About Me

Very few things are more important to me than hard work and effort. I believe that any one can solve any problem with the resources they have, so long as they approach it correctly and work their hardest. For me, this translates to commitment, determination, and strong work ethic. I think a person's ability does not completely show until they are able to recognize everything that they can succeed in.

I have been an in-school washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutor at Washington Middle School in washington/seattle">Seattle for the past year in addition to some private washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutoring on the side. At the school, I work with an organization called University washington/washington/seattle">seattle">Tutors for washington/seattle">Seattle Schools and we are placed in math and science classrooms to aid the students. The need of the students in the classroom varies a lot, so we are exposed to a large number of different learning styles and attitudes from different students.

My approach greatly reflects my beliefs about effort. Working at a middle school, many students are unable to relate or find interest in the material. Because of this disinterest, many of the students I work with lack the motivation to be successful in the classroom, and their lack of success only encourages this behavior. For this reason, I think that one of the most important roles a washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutor can play is to spark interest in the student. As someone in college, the students are more able to relate towards me, and my enthusiasm towards their academic translates to an increased level of interest on their part. As students become more interested, they will be more motivated to push themselves to learn. I strive to be a washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutor who can both academically excite the student while making sure that the students are on track.
