Fun Facts? I am originally from Jamaica, the island not Jamaica, Queens. I love dancing, particular ballroom and modern. I am convinced that I have an excellent singing voice even though everyone else seems to disagree! i believe shopping and Ruffles potato chips can solve just about any problem - Quote me, I am convinced!

About Me

My name is Anika Brown and I am an alumni of St. John's University. I graduated in May 2013, a year early, with cum laude honors,and a GPA of 3.65. I currently work at Marsh, the global leading insurance brokerage firm, as an insurance broker.

I began my brooklyn">tutoring experience from when I was in high school in the ninth grade, at this level I tutored my peers in several subject areas, consisting but not limited to; Mathematics, Economics, Business, Literature and History. While at St. John's University, I also tutored Elementary and Middle school students as part of a reading and writing program offered by the university, in the subject areas of Reading, Mathematics and Spanish. I also volunteered to work with adults who either could not read or who dropped out of school prematurely.

My brooklyn">tutoring approach within each grade bracket includes reviewing material given to students by teachers and both identifying and strengthening weak and troublesome areas. This is usually done through finding simpler or alternative methods to arrive at the same conclusion. For students who require more practice, I also formulate sample questions that they will be able to do at home; this is based on their respective areas of concern.
To ensure that all my students are learning I give them practice tests after each module or topic covered to carefully monitor their progress and to promote efficient learning.
