About Me
I have recently graduated from the miami">University of Miami with a B.A. in Biology this spring 2013 with minors in chemistry, sociology, and music. My hobbies include playing music, travelling, and outdoor activities preferably with my friends! My plans after college are to gain job experience and apply for graduate school to become a physician assistant.
In high school, I was founder and president of the miami">Tutor club. I was esteemed when the principle called me in to discuss academic strategies that could potentially raise the average test scores of the student body. I had thought to put together a program in the library twice a week where teachers and student peers commit to miami">tutoring any students who sought help in their academic subjects. The vice principle and I called this new program "Open Library" and it has recorded 500 students attending and is still in session today. My graduating semester I received a phone call from a local library offering a collaboration with "Open Library" to offer miami">tutoring to the community for non-profit.
I find that willingness to do hard work is half the battle when it comes to completing tasks. Therefore, my miami">tutoring strategies involve plenty of motivation, simplification, and attempts at having the student feel a sense of ease when approaching their assignments. I find that students tend to try to take the "easy" route when studying for their exams, so I stress that putting in the time and repetition are nearly fool proof ways of preparing for a test as well as the importance of seeking help when a student feels he or she does not quite understand the material of their coursework. I highly enjoy miami">tutoring, especially when my contributions prove to show improvement on students' test scores.
