Fun Facts

In my spare time, I love to bake desserts! My favorite cupcakes to bake are these amazing butterscotch cupcakes. I don't have a big sweet tooth, so I'll give away most of what I make to others :) I also enjoy running, I may not be the fastest person, but I hope to finish a marathon one day. I can't swim well, but I love going to the beach, I usually just stay close to the shore.

About Me

I am currently working on obtaining my Master's degree in Biology at University of California, San Diego. I finished my undergraduate studies at UCSD, studying Biochemistry and Cell Biology. I am also getting ready to apply to medical schools, and would love to practice medicine in developing countries one day.

I had an opportunity to work as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for UCSD's Biology department last two quarters. It was such an amazing experience to see every student's progress from the beginning until the end. I still maintain good relationships with some of my students, and they continue to contact me for advice on their future academic or career plans.

I strongly believe that learning can be enjoyable for everyone with positive motivation. I like to incorporate familiar concepts to my lesson plans, so students can relate what they are learning to real situations. Rather than providing answers, I ask follow up questions to help the student get to the answer on their own, to promote critical thinking abilities as well as the reassurance that the students can succeed on their own. When I study, I like to come up with my own mnemonics and acronyms to remember certain things, and I love sharing my silly knowledge with others so they can help remember the concepts!
