Fun Facts
One thing about me is that I love picking up new skills. A few years ago I decided to learn classical Arabic. Over the years I learned to read and understand classical Arabic to a high degree of proficiency. Another thing I picked up was playing basketball. If you practice something at least a little bit everyday, you can get decent at it pretty quick.
About Me
I am kind of older, but I've decided on a career in education. I finished my Bachelor's in Economics with a Minor in Math. My culmative GPA was a 3.26 from the memphis">University of Memphis. I finished my Master's in Accounting from the same school. I got better at school; I made a 3.77 GPA. I started my PhD a couple years ago, and I passed my first year, but I had to leave. I'm trying to get back into a good doctoral program; when I start something, I try my utmost to finish.
I've been memphis">tutoring for years. I tutored student athletes while I was working on my Masters. After I left the PhD program, I tutored elementary school kids in core subjects --that was the job I was able to land. I can deal with a wide variety of personalities from the motivated-intelligent, to the immature. I've tutored subjects ranging from Calculus, to 5th grade Social Studies. Depending on the backgrounds, my students start from different places, but they almost always show improvement. I hope to finish my PhD and teach on the collegiate level.
I didn't learn to be a consistently good student until my sophomore or junior year of college. I was exposed to some good teachers, but I had to figure things out for myself a little bit. A few things are important. You need to pace yourself. You need to be consistently doing your work and studying. At the same time, you need to know how to handle anxiety and moments of fatigue. Up until I got older, I would start the semester making all A’s but by October, I would burn out, and quit. But by being exposed to some wise gentle people, serious introspection and patient striving, I am now able to take on some difficult tasks that take consistent work. At this point, I feel I can pass down my “method.”
