Fun Facts

I am currently a part-time mental health worker. Within the next few years, I hope to obtain a graduate degree in social work. People are my passion. and I believe that mental health plays an important role in overall well-being. I encourage my students to explore hobbies, and do what makes them happy. For me, it's creative writing and petting puppies.

About Me

I graduated in 2011 from Salisbury University with a dual degree in History and Psychology. I also studied Shakespearean English in London, England. I was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with highest honors and the dean's recognition. I also was a chief editor on the board for our college's creative writing magazine. Our 2015 edition went on to rank #1 in the nation. In 2014 I went back to school and obtained a certification in counseling.

Experience

I was recruited to be a tutor in 2007 by Wor-Wic Community College on an internship basis. I started out tutoring my peers who needed a little extra help in English. I also tutored psychology and history. I ended up working there up until I finished all of my schooling in 2014. I have experience with both ESL students, and students who have learning disabilities. I specialize in writing, grammar, and literature.

Approach

I had a fairly unconventional academic life and started college at 16. As a shy, but creative student, I found that I enjoyed being in charge of my own learning. Once I found what I loved, I really excelled. I strongly believe that everyone has their own style of learning; there are no cookie cutter study guides here.Fostering a love for learning takes patience and perseverance, but once that spark is there, it lasts a lifetime.
