Fun Facts
A fun fact about me is that I am probably the biggest Disney fan you will ever meet! I try to go to Disney World at least twice a year, and I visited Disneyland three times in one year when my (now) husband lived there! I prefer odd numbers, live on coffee, and in my spare time can always be found playing with my puppy Dunkin!
About Me
I am a first grade teacher, and a recent graduate of Towson University's Masters in Teaching program. I am currently continuing my education to be able to provide the best educational practices for my students in a Graduate Certificate in Brain, Mind, and Teaching. I recently got married to my high school sweetheart and adopted my new fur-son, a shihpoo named Dunkin!
Experience
I began tutoring while I was still in high school, but put it on hold when I went away to college. As I pursued my Masters in Teaching in Elementary Education, I picked it back up by tutoring elementary students in math. This past summer I tutored families in the areas of math and English Language Arts! In addition to tutoring, I am a first grade teacher (and have experience in fifth grade, as well as teaching 2nd and 7th grade math).
Approach
As a teacher, I have found that fostering relationships and including my students' interests to make learning fun is the key to their success, and my own. I bring this into my tutoring as well, by getting to know the students I work with to use methods and terminology that makes sense to them. I incorporate games to make learning fun, and teach them skills that they can use to be successful through out all of their academic career.
