Fun Facts
Aside from reading and education, my biggest passion in life is animals. I have been a vegetarian since birth, and currently have six dogs and four cats as part of my family. Someday I hope to become a certified dog trainer, but right now my biggest goal is improving my Russian language skills.
About Me
In May 2017, I graduated with a Bachelor's in Linguistics and Creative Writing, and now I am a graduate student at the University of Arizona in the MA Library and Information Sciences program. My goal is to become a public librarian with a focus on children's literacy. After graduate school I am debating possibly getting a Ph.D in Linguistics or Library Science.
Experience
I have been teaching children from 4 weeks of age up till 18 years old for the past six years, with completion of an Early Childhood Education program in High School. Much of my experience has been in daycare settings, teaching toddlers through preschoolers basic math, reading, writing, spelling, and colors. I also assisted school-aged children with their homework, and have two years of experience working with individuals who have developmental delays or learning disabilities.
Approach
One of the most disappointing parts of the current education system is the teacher bias, which results in discouraged students and unfair grades. In High School, I was told I was a poor writer until AP Literature my Junior year, when my teacher explained that I was a complex writer, gave me higher grades, and inspired me to not give up. As a tucson">tutor, I aspire to point out the individual strengths of each student and make sure they understand that different does not mean wrong.
