Fun Facts
I have a deep love and appreciation for music and the arts in general. As cliche as it may sound I really do listen to everything; all types of rock, jazz, electronic, experimental/avant-garde, etc. I've been playing guitar here and there for about 10 years now as well. I also enjoy a good book from time to time.
About Me
I am a senior at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, majoring in Information Systems Management and double minoring in Computer Science and Math. I'd like to work in the tech industry after I graduate, potentially working for a start up or maybe even starting my own!
Experience
Towards the end of my high school years I began tutoring math to my friends’ younger siblings who were still in elementary and middle school, thus eventually leading me to continue tutoring as a college student. Now with roughly four to five years under my belt, I primarily tutor math topics to students in grades K-12 and college. As a member of Member of the National Conference of Community and Justice, I've done work with my local community on social issues such as race and religion.
Approach
Up until fourteen, I normally struggled in school. In high school I came to realize that with patience and persistence, there were more things in life I could grow to understand than not. Eventually I began to exceed in most, if not all of my classes by sophomore year. I truly believe that anybody is capable of understanding anything with enough help, direction and effort. This is what I try to instill in students I tutor; I try to make students better learners and thinkers.

Calculus I Tutoring
While taking Calculus I as a college student, I generally excelled in my test scores and overall understanding of the topic. While taking this class it was not unusual for me to help other students in my class with their homework and studying for tests. I feel that this fundamental class covers topics that I have full proficiency in.
College Algebra Tutoring
The first math course I took as a college student. While students are introduced to many of the topics covered in this course during high school, the way how this information is often taught and tested in college typically varies greatly from how it is done in high school. I ended up making a 95 on my final test for this course however the semester I took this course was more of a learning experience for how college math courses tend to vary from high school math courses.
Math Tutoring
As a college student I have taken two discrete math courses, pre calculus I and II, Calculus I - III, and College Algebra. Math has always been the topic I study and enjoy the most since my high school years, and the topics I would consider myself proficient in are the ones that I have already helped others learn and understand.
Pre Calculus Tutoring
Another college math course that covers a lot of material often taught in high school but differs from high school math courses in how it is taught and the nature of what tests and assignments may require for students to understand. I feel that I understand the difference between what students who have studied these topics in high school need to understand for this class as well as students who haven't studied these topics at all.
Algebra Tutoring
An algebra class covering topics that are crucial for students to be fully proficient in understanding to succeed in just about any other math class such as algebra II. I feel that I understand very well how students ought to be introduced to topics covered in this course such that they most efficiently and effectively can succeed in this course as well as other math courses to come.
Algebra II Tutoring
An algebra class covering topics that are crucial for students to be fully proficient in understanding to succeed in just about every other higher level math class course they may take in their high school or college career. I recall being one of the best students in my class while taking this course in high school and I'm glad I was because my understandings of topics covered in this course served as a strong foundation for just about every other math course I've taken since.
Middle School Math Tutoring
While in high school I tutored young family friends in grades 6-8 in their middle school math courses. Given that I struggled with the topic when I was in middle school I tend to understand what kids at that age may struggle to understand. Thus I'm able to find the easiest and most efficient way to make topics that may be difficult for these students relatively easy.
Elementary Math Tutoring
As a kid who struggled with math as an elementary school student, I feel like I have a proficient understanding in what parts of elementary math young kids tend to struggle with. For example, things like long division and order of operation are topics that generally confuse and impede a child's understanding of fundamental math. However in developing and emphasizing their understanding of the process at large these topics can be made pretty simple.
