Fun Facts
My favorite food throughout my life has consistently been potato chips.On every trip to a foreign country, I bring a tote bag that is to be used for transporting my potato chips souvenirs. I have been working abroad for the past few years and I am looking forward to my next adventure. I love learning languages. I think I will tackle learning Japanese and Norwegian next.
About Me
I completed my Master's degree at Columbia University in Public Health and environmental health sciences. I have a background in biology, microbiology, neuroscience (BS) and global studies, East Asian Studies, demography, and sociology (BA). I began learning Korean in college and was able to learn it to the level of fluency that allowed me to be a specialist in the Korean government.
Experience
I have a TEFL certificate (120 hours) and extensive experience working as a private tutor in Korea for children and adults (from beginning to business English). I have also worked as the head SAT instructor at a school in Korea. I tutored AP biology and AP statistics in high school and writing and study skills in college. Before attending Columbia for graduate school, I tutored elementary and middle school reading comprehension and math.
Approach
I was a student of a Montessori classroom until middle school. I incorporate this sort of hands-on approach to learning in my classes. My approach varies from student to student since there is no "one size fits all" approach to learning. I change my lessons and teaching style to fit my student's particular style of learning and strengths.
