Fun Facts
I am a big television and movie watcher. I love learning about how the movies are made and can be considered a human encyclopedia on film and TV information. Beyond that I love learning new pieces of trivia. In my spare time you can usually find me watching Jeopardy, Googling things I've learned to find out more about it, and watching YouTube videos on how various things in the world work.
About Me
I have a Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Mexico in Secondary Education and a Master's Degree from the University of West Florida in Public History where I graduated at the top of my class. I now work for New Mexico Historic Sites as an instructional coordinator and educator. I lead public programming and outreach, lead field trips, visit schools, and teach specialized programs and lesson plans and assist teachers in writing curriculum that aligns to the standards they need.
Experience
I have spent time as a classroom teacher in numerous subjects developing lesson plans and teaching students at the middle school level. I have also taught at the university level as a graduate assistant while getting my master's degree in public history. I taught US History from 1945-1974 and a historical writing course. In addition to writing classroom curriculum and teaching specialized lessons I also continue to research and write historical analyses of my area of historical expertise in NM.
Approach
I believe all students are capable of greatness. I believe in the importance of developing a student's unique strengths and gifts. As an educator it is a priority of mine to meet the student at his or her level to determine where best to provide the educating and help the student gain new coping skills for overcoming problem areas in their learning.

Geography Tutoring
When receiving my undergraduate degree my History major focused primarily on European history as well as European geography. When studying for my graduate degree I focused primarily on American history and geography. I have taken courses in World Geography, Cultures of the World, Religions of the World, America's National Parks, and Historic Preservation. As a result I have a broad understanding of geography worldwide.

While receiving my master's degree I worked for the university as a graduate teaching assistant and in addition to teaching courses worked one-on-one with the undergraduates to ensure their success. Part of my job involved holding regular office hours so students could come to me whenever they had questions about the class. Many times, especially with underclassmen, these questions involved a lack of study skills.
