I enjoy traveling and have visited nine countries. I like outdoor festivals and live music. I'm originally from North Carolina, but have lived in Baltimore, MD for two years.
About Me
I have a full-time, day job at a nonprofit that focuses on education in low-income areas. I'm passionate about education and training teachers on becoming better instructors and mentors. I think education is the best means of creating a stronger community.
Experience
I have been a tutor for over 10 years and have three years teaching experience. The age groups I've worked with range from preschool to high school students. I would also be comfortable teaching college as I hold a master's degree.
Approach
I treat each student as an individual and tailor my teaching in ways that will most benefit them. I also like for them to have a voice in how they'd best want to accomplish their work and try to be supportive and flexible. However, I know how to be firm with younger kids that may require more guidance.

MastersHistory Tutoring
I have a Bachelors in comprehensive History (American, European, Non-Western) and a Masters in Non-Western History with a focus on Africa and Latin America studies. While at University, I helped many of my peers with writing and comprehension.
AP English Tutoring
I took AP English and AP History in High School and passed the End of Year testing for both to receive college credit. I am very familiar with the rigorous and challenging curriculum and could be of great help in test prep, essays and everyday homework.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I have taught Middle School and tutored Middle School students in the past. I like working with this age group and helping them become the best students they can be.
Social Studies Tutoring
I have experience teaching this age group. I was at one after-school tutoring program for two years where I helped a small group of students go from performing below grade level to performing at their grade level by the end of the semester.
