Fun Facts

I was born and raised in London. I have lived on 3 continents. I love travel, writing poetry, reading, and watching soccer. I love to sing even though I can't. You will rarely catch me without a smile.

About Me

I'm a senior psychology major at St.John's University. My current GPA is 3.6 overall and my psychology GPA is a 3.5. After college I intend to continue my education by getting a masters degree in Occupational Therapy and would like to focus on working with special needs children. I am currently a part of Psi Chi National Honor Society, am a high school cum laude graduate and have been on the dean's list for the past 2 years.

The californi">tutoring experience I have comes mainly from working with my 9 year old nephew who has dyslexia and ADHD. I have tutored him in reading, writing, and math. I have also tutored a few of my peers in college English, particularly focusing on grammar, writing, and comprehension. I am open to working with those with learning disabilities mainly because those are who I intend to work with in my field.

My approach to californi">tutoring involves the student understanding the concepts behind what they are learning. I encourage them to ask questions, and to explain procedures to me, whereby I can focus on the things they have done correctly in addition to those concepts they have yet to grasp. I do not approach students with a lecturing style, as I myself know this can become tedious - both for teacher and student. Interaction is an important aspect and I encourage it. The goal of californi">tutoring is not only to maintain the attention of the student, but for them to really grasp the task at hand. I try to understand what each student's learning style is and adapt my style accordingly. Praise and encouragement is something that motivates almost every student, and that is critical aspect of my californi">tutoring style.
