About Me
I have been a teacher of Latin and English for the past five years. I am a graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson, MS where I majored in English, Philosophy and Classics, earning awards for philosophical writing and scoring excellent on my comprehensive exams in Classics. I am originally from Philadelphia, MS.
During my five years teaching experience I have taught Latin levels I-III, English II-AP Literature, Etymology and Mythology. I tutored students in these subjects after school, two days a week. I also conducted an ACT study group.
Having the tools to organize information and developing the study skills necessary for independent learning are essential for academic success and my memphis">tutoring philosophy centers around developing these skills. I've found that once these skills are mastered, they are easily applied to all academic areas. Positive encouragement is an important part of memphis">tutoring as building confidence in the subject matter is crucial for a student's success. No one likes doing things they think they aren't good at so it is important for every student to see that yes they can if given the proper tools and encouragement.
