Fun Facts

I have a passion for both learning and leadership which tends to spill over into every part of my life. I enjoy reading, autumn leaves, hot chocolate, and corgis. I've lived in Germany twice, where visiting castles was just a normal part of the weekend. I'm teaching myself to cook and hope the frozen pizza companies don't go out of business because of it.

About Me

I am a history major at Texas Woman's University where I am currently in the Touchstone Honors program. I was awarded first place in the 2016 Oral History Essay Contest at Texas Woman's and was published in the Ibid. I was named Outstanding Student Leader of the Year at Tarrant County College Northeast Campus for 2016-2017 and, in the same year, served as chapter president of the National Society of Leadership & Success, a leadership honor society.

Experience

As a student leader, I have worked closely with students to help them reach their goals. I frequently lead group projects and work with individual students in the group to complete their portion of the project. I have worked with students on research skills, communication skills, organization, study skills, and test preparation. I helped to launch an after-school math program for 9-11-year-olds, which I helped teach.

Approach

My goal in tutoring is to help each of my students set their own learning goals and then develop the skills necessary to reach them so that they can succeed in any school they attend or any course they take in the future. I focus on organization, study skills, and a solid foundation in the basics of writing. I believe if learning isn't fun at least some of the time, you're doing it wrong.
