Fun Facts
Growing up in an Air Force Family I moved around quite a bit growing up, and have lived in eight different states, as well as overseas twice (Portugal, and Japan). I still love traveling, especially to Maine, and Hawaii to visit family, Monterey, and the National Parks. I also have a ton of fun with everyday adventures at home, in Clovis, with my husband, two year-old daughter, dog and cat. When I have the time I enjoy swing dancing, comic books, baking, and writing.
About Me
I am a fully certified teacher with a Masters Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University. Throughout my eight years of working with students of all ages, my passion for education has only grown stronger. I am taking a break from full time teaching to stay home with my young daughter, but love having the opportunity to work with students one-on-one. The best thing about being a teacher is helping each student achieve their potential, and I am so happy I can continue this important work.
Experience
I have always enjoyed working with students of all ages, including as a JrNYLC Counselor, Curriculum Developer, and Assistant Pre-school Teacher. After working a semester as a Long-Term Substitute English Teacher, I knew I had found my calling. I earned my M.ed. and Teaching Certification, while working as a High School Drama Teacher, and completed my student teaching with Third and Sixth grade. Along the way, I worked frequently as an after-school tutor, totaling over five years experience.
Approach
I have been a life-long lover of learning, and work hard to pass along this enthusiasm to all of my students. However, I also struggled with math while in school, and suffered from the dreaded ‘Math Anxiety’. Learning to push through this, has helped me to become a compassionate teacher, who understands what students are going through. I believe in a patient approach, encouraging through positive reinforcement. I strive to design my approach to meet the unique needs of each student.

MastersEnglish Tutoring
I have always been a strongly skilled student in the language arts, taking AP English classes in high school, and advanced courses in college. I am also certified to teach this subject in K-8 classes.
History Tutoring
A lifelong history enthusiast, I have always enjoyed studying history. Originally a double minor in my undergraduate studies, I was only a few credits short from completing a minor in history. Although I chose not to complete the minor due to time constraints, I gained a lot from the experience. I am certified to teach history as a part of my multiple subject credential in K-8.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I have over eight years of experience in working with children of all ages. This includes pre-school through twelfth grade. Over five years of this experience is specifically in tutoring, and after-school homework help. Of course, teaching in the classroom also provided me lots of opportunity to assist students with all kinds of studying, work, and projects.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have yeas of experience in working with students at all reading levels, from Pre-K through Twelfth grade. I am certified to teach multiple subjects through my K-8 Teaching Credential.
Study Skills Tutoring
Over eight years working with children of all ages, and achievement levels, I have developed many strategies for working with those who need a little extra help. As a classroom teacher, and as a private tutor, my approach has always been to find the right strategy for each individual to become a successful student.
Writing Tutoring
I have always been a strong student in the subject of writing, taking creative writing, and AP English classes as a high school student, and Advanced Writing classes in college. I am certified to teach English through my multiple subject credential in K-8. I truly enjoy helping every student find their individual voice, through writing.
Math Tutoring
In addition to years of experience tutoring students, I am certified to teach math in grades K-6. Through my studies to complete my M.ed. I took several courses specializing in successful teaching strategies for Math K-6.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I have not only tutored many elementary students in math, but also have been certified to teach elementary math as a part of my teaching certification. While earning my M.ed. I also took classes specializing in effective teaching strategies for math at all elementary levels K-6.
Science Tutoring
In addition to my own classes in science, through the college level of Earth Sciences, and Biology, I also have experience teaching Science in the classroom at the Pre-school, third, and sixth grade levels. I am also certified to teach Science from grades K-6.
Social Studies Tutoring
A life-long history enthusiast, I was only three credits short from completing a History Minor as a part of my undergraduate degree. Due to time constraints I chose to graduate without it, but gained a lot from the studies. I am certified to teach Social Studies from grades K-6.
