Fun Facts
My passion is teaching and technology! I have been a programmer both as a hobby and professionally for many years. I also spent a lot of time in the US and Germany teaching German. In my spare time, I like to paint, read, and play video games.
About Me
I am currently a freelance web developer in Mesa with a Bachelors in Linguistics & German and a Masters in German Studies. I hope to continue my career in technology as I get improve my programming skills. My ultimate goal is to work for Google.
Experience
As a masters student, I spent almost 3 years teaching German at the undergraduate level. I spent two summers teaching in Germany at the University of Leipzig. I was the instructor for 5 week intensive intermediate courses in German language for American students. I have also taught German as a long term substitute at the high school level in Sahuarita, AZ. In addition, I tutored students at various levels in German language and science/arizona/phoenix">computer science.
Approach
Learning a language is hard. There are all sorts of frustrations and fears, from being self conscious about accent, to forgetting the gender of nouns, to feeling unable to string sentences together in conversation. While these are legitimate sources of difficulty, language learning is also incredibly fun. I take an approach to teaching & learning that incorporates humor to get us talking in order to guide you through difficulties in the subject.

I have a Masters degree in German Studies from the University of Arizona. I have studied many aspects of second language learning and teaching, as well as translation. I also minored in Spanish and majored in Linguistics in my undergraduate career. I have over 3 years combined experience teaching German.
