About Me
Born to missionary parents in Venezuela and living in Panama, SF Bay Area, Santa Barbara, New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, has given me a broad cultural experience. My passions are reading, yoga, movies, writing, playing 9-hole golf, playing cards, cooking, politics, and church ministries.
Experience
I am funny, which draws children and teens to me; and my passion for the English language—words, sentences, grammar—ignites their interest. Friends, professors, heads of departments in my advertising career label me “the teacher mentor.” Now, I’m eager to expand my tutor base.
Approach
As a child, I was either talking non-stop or daydreaming; thus, performed poorly on exams and answering questions in class. This provides me with maximum identification with all students K-12 from the start. In sessions, I use a combination of tutoring style: Socratic critical thinking (questions), Pause Procedure (tutor speaks less than student), and Multimedia Tools.
