Fun Facts
My major hobby is English-style horseback riding, specifically Eventing, which I practice every day I can.
About Me
I majored in Classics at Princeton University and then received my Master of Music in Flute Performance from Rice University. I have been tutoring students of all ages and levels in both Latin and Ancient Greek for 5 years, and have been a flute teacher for 10 years. I have played in orchestras around the country and most recently was the Principal Flutist of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra before moving to Atlanta.
Experience
I was a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and have been teaching flute lessons since I was in high school. I have a Master of Music from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, where I received a full scholarship. I hold a BA from Princeton university, where I majored in Classics and focused on Latin and Greek literature. Since graduating from Princeton, I have taught Latin and Ancient Greek students from the ages of 10-65. I was a substitute Latin teacher in Kansas City for 4 years.
Approach
I have learned from years of experience to tailor my teaching style to each individual student's needs. Having taught a wide range of students, I try to quickly identify learning types, as no student fits a formulaic pattern. Students benefit greatly from one-on-one instruction that promotes discipline, focus, and creative problem-solving abilities that a classroom environment can fail to instill. Tutoring is more about ingraining those skills for future use than teaching a specific subject.
