About Me
I am currently a senior at queens-college">Queens College. Once I complete my undergrad I intend on taking off from school for a year to travel and upon my return, enroll in grad school for teaching. I strive to be successful and to achieve success one must continue to educate themselves, which is why I plan on going back to school. The learning never stops.
My tutor experience consists of 7 months working at an after school program. The program who's office is based in Flushing worked with students from P.S./I.S. 187 in Holliswood, Queens ranging from children in grades K-6. The after school program is especially targeted for students who are struggling in school and need extra assistance with their homework My duties consisted of guiding the children through their homework and providing them with extra work once they completed their school work.
My tutoring approach varies depending on the subject I am teaching. I prefer to tutor in History and Spanish. Teaching a language possesses many methods of deliverance. I find that assisting others with spanish is most helpful when they compare vocabulary to similar words or phrases in other languages. Teaching another language is also helpful through films and music which is always enjoyable to watch and listen to while students are learning at the same time. As far as history goes, history can always be taught through a story, and who doesn't love a good story. I also find that many moments in history can be related to a more recent event.
