Hey students and parents! I am new to Houston and absolutely love it. When I'm not in the classroom I enjoy bike riding and hiking. I also use to train dogs back home. I am a big dog lover and enjoy teaching them new things.
About Me
I attended Cal State University Los Angeles. I graduated in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. I moved to Texas from California to be a teacher. I'm a 7th grade Language Arts teacher.
Experience
I have been houston">tutoring students since 2007. I started off working for the No Child Left Behind Program houston">tutoring students in their homes after school. From there I began working as a behavioral houston">tutor houston">tutoring students with autism. I tutored these students in academic areas as well functional skills. Approach
When houston">tutoring students the first thing that I do is build rapport and earn their trust. I have learned through experience that when a child trust you, they will work hard for you. After I have built rapport with the student I relate learning to the student's own experiences. This helps the content stick with the student. I also use a lot of positive reinforcement to motivate the students. Through these approaches I have had over five years of success houston">tutoring students.
