About Me
I am biology major at houston">the houston">University of Houston Downtown with three years of undergraduate experience in sciences. I also hold an associate’s degree in health and medical sciences . I currently have a GPA of 3.8 and i graduate in May 2015. I volunteer at the emergency room at St Luke’s episcopal hospital Houston Texas. Additionally, I have attained high academic standard, organizational level and, leadership qualities by being a member of the Scholars Academy at houston">the houston">University of Houston Downtown and the National.
I worked for two consecutive summers as a houston">tutor. I tutored middle and high school kids. I did this in the summer of 2010 and 2011 before I got back to college. I was very astonished at the level of development I and my students experienced. My students were able to perform better at school the following semester because of the amount of time they put in during the summer. I was able to get to know them personally and design what method worked for them individually.
My first approach is to ask the students what their major challenge is in a subject. I let them go over the said topic to the best of their knowledge with me and I answer any questions they have or design a forum where they can think about it about those questions. Another thing I do is to make demonstrations or draw images to explain my point. One other effective tool is homework. This gives them time to go over what I taught the previous time. I also like to send out reminders of due dates for work.
