Fun Facts

Something that people quickly learn about me is that I love movies! I like all kinds of films: dramas, comedies, dramedies, French films, Westerns, fun ones, sad ones, good ones, bad ones. I enjoy them all.

About Me

I am a recent graduate from NYU's English department where I had GPA of 3.6, both overall and in my major. I was a University Honors Scholar and I'm hoping to continue my education with a Master's in Teaching English. I would like to at some point teach English abroad and then become a high school teacher.

I currently work as an SAT tutor and frequently volunteer in projects related to education. Recently I worked on a project with high school aged students by guiding them through the process of drafting, writing and polishing a college application essay. Starting in October, I will be tutoring underprivileged high school students SAT tricks through a Kaplan outreach program. I have also worked with adults by teaching English language review classes to people looking to improve their skills for either an upcoming citizenship test or job search.

My tutoring approach is to first understand how the student is interacting with the material, and then try to improve or correct their understanding of it from there. This approach came from experiences I had in school watching a teacher try to explain something to a student, not realizing that the student already understood what the teacher was trying to tell him; the student was having trouble with a different aspect of the problem. I think good communication is key in any learning environment.
