Fun Facts
I was born with a massive travel bug! I took my first international trip when I was only 5 and just within just my college years I visited 24 different countries spanning 4 continents. I did theater in high school and studied voice, musical theater, and acting at the Eastern Virginia School for the Performing Arts. I watch too much tv and watch too many movies but I love it, along with reading, and singing along to every country song that comes on the radio.
About Me
I am a recent graduate from High Point University in North Carolina. I graduated cum laude as a member of both the history and education honors societies. My goal is to become a high school history teacher. I already do some substitute work to gain experience and be in the schools. I just recently moved to Texas from Virginia as well.
Experience
During college I worked as a history tutor through the school's department of academic services, sophomore year through graduation. I completed all three levels of training to become a CRLA mastery level tutor. I was also a supplementary instructor first semester of my senior year before I began my full time student teaching position at a local high school, where I taught standard and honors level American History II classes.
Approach
The best teachers I've had are always the ones who take the time to get to know as a person, build me up, and make me more confident in myself. That is the kind of teacher and tutor I strive to be. I build relationships with my students, use positive encouragement, and personalized, relatable teaching methods to better equip students with the confidence and skills to succeed in the classroom as well in any other challenges they face in life.

History Tutoring
I tutored college level history throughout my undergraduate experience and was one of the first undergraduates awarded a supplementary instructor position in ththe history department at my university. I tutored a variety of classes though my specialities are American and modern European histories. I was a member of the history honors society at my university as well. I am also an officially licensed professional educator for grades 9-12 history.
AP History Tutoring
I was personally selected to be one of the first students to take AP European history at my high school, received straight A's in the class, and passed the AP exam. I also took AP US History and AP Government as well, and received straight A's and a passing score on the AP exam in both of those classes as well. My experiences with tutoring college history classes also gives me an advantage with the rigorous, college level designed, AP curriculum.
Writing Tutoring
Many high school students are sorely deficient in their writing skills and are shocked and and unprepared for college writing. My time in a very writing heavy, liberal arts, history major gives me extensive first hand experience with the expectations for college writing. My previous tutoring experience and time teaching in a high school taught me how to help students reach those expectations.
