About Me
My name is Stephany Rosario. I am a Senior in the Science, Speech Pathology Program at Lehman College. My current GPA is 3.8. I am a very dedicated student who believes that education is the foundation of my future professional life. I was and currently am involved in many extracurricular activities. I have obtained numerous awards and certificates of excellence as part of my commitment to certain clubs and an organization. Moreover, I was a bronx">tutor for basic French and Human Biology.
My experience as a bronx">tutor was extremely great. I had more students for French than for biology since I met with them at the school’s library. As far as I know, the students passed their French courses, which make me feel satisfied with the service I provided to them. I was a bronx">tutor in Spanish for approximately one semester. As a Spanish bronx">tutor, the students wanted to be more familiar with the terminology of the Spanish language and be able to speak it. Through being a bronx">tutor, I learned to discover the challenges and strengths in learning of the students. I also learned not to be afraid to acknowledge the difference between my students and myself.
I feel that doing a lot of telling and explaining does not help the student, so it is better to think of the many ways through which I can possibly get the student to do his or her own thinking and work. For example, instead of explaining, I try to ask questions to get my students to think deeply and concentrate on what they are learning. Also I make an effort to build on what my student already knows, as well as connecting the material to his/her personal experience.
