Fun Facts

At Stony Brook University my second major explored film as another form of "text." When it comes to media literacy, work that requires visual analysis, or a response to a film, I am more than happy to lend my expertise. As for general interests and hobbies, I have always loved animals of all kinds, video editing, fantasy novels, hiking, surfing, swimming, and writing stories and poetry.

About Me

I am an honors English graduate from Stony Brook University with a second degree in Cinema and Cultural Studies. While at university, I joined the Honors English Program, tutored at the campus Writing Center, completed an honors thesis, was initiated into the International English Honor Society, and won the John Rogers Award for best analytical essay by an undergraduate in a literature course. I thoroughly enjoyed working one on one with clients on many kinds of assignments and the reward of watching their literacy progress over the course of a session. I worked there for about two years until graduating in the Spring of 2013. After graduating, I was no longer able to work there and have continued to look for tutoring opportunities since.

My method of tutoring entails solving together with a student in order to tackle any troubles they might have with their work. Patience and optimism are key in encouraging students to continue along with their writing, no matter what stage of the process they may find themselves stuck at. I find it most important to lead the student with questions and conversation, allowing them to come to the answers them self, while
