Fun Facts
I love being outdoors doing pretty much anything: hiking, running, swimming, or just spending time with friends. A great novel and cup of coffee can keep me occupied for hours. Watercolor painting and baking are some of my favorite Sunday afternoon occupations!
About Me
I am a teacher with four years of experience teaching students of various ages and backgrounds both in large groups and in private tutoring. I love helping students grow in confidence and have those aha! moments.
Experience
I earned a bachelors degree in Politics with a minor in Spanish and for the past four years I have been teaching full time. First, I served as the English as a Second Language Program Coordinator in a first year classical charter school. I worked with students with little to no English schools, as well as students who needed to learn advanced grammar. I then taught third grade for two years. Most recently, I taught seventh grade history.
Approach
I love learning and my goal is to help my students learn to love the learning process. This can be a challenge for students who are struggling. Through encouragement and targeted lessons, I help my students gain the confidence and knowledge to succeed and have fun in the process. I know how to challenge students to reach their full potential while also being patient and celebrating growth along the way.

Politics
English Tutoring
During college, I took four English classes and received As in all of them. My courses in Politics also required extensive writing. During high school I took both AP English Literature and AP English Language and received a score of 5 on both of them.
ESL Tutoring
I served as the Founding ESL Program Coordinator for one year at Great Hearts Monte Vista. I was responsible for testing and identifying ESL students, creating a program, and delivering instruction and support to all students in the ESL program. I taught English grammar and phonics and tutored students individually.
History Tutoring
I have taken the college level courses: American Civilization 1, Western Civilization 1 and 2. I taught a middle school history course on World War 1 and World War 2, so I have in depth knowledge of world history surrounding the wars. In high school I received a score of 5 on the AP US History exam, AP US Government Exam, and the AP Comparative Government Exam.
Political Science Tutoring
I earned my bachelors degree in Politics from the University of Dallas, taking over 60 college credits in political science courses.
Study Skills Tutoring
During college and in my four years teaching students of all ages, I became very adept at study skills and I know how to pass on these skills to my students.
Writing Tutoring
I earned my degree from University of Dallas which has a liberal arts core curriculum. Writing is emphasized in nearly all of the classes that I took. I have experience successfully writing academic research and rhetorical papers.

I earned a score of 5 on both the AP English Literature and AP English Language exams.
AP History Tutoring
I earned a score of 5 on the AP US History exam. I also taught a course on World War One and World War Two.

I earned a score of 5 on the AP Biology exam.

I have a bachelor of arts degree in Politics, which requires an in depth knowledge of both American and Comparative Government.

I taught elementary school for three years and have extensive training in reading comprehension teaching methods.
