Fun Facts
A fact about myself that surprises most people is that I am a competitive olympic weightlifter. I love being physically active, and lifting weights is my favorite way to stay healthy. I also have my own fitness, health, and food blog. I really enjoy cooking and creating new recipes. This year I am getting scuba certified and I cannot wait to learn how to scuba dive!
About Me
I graduated in May 2013 from the miami">University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and University Honors Cum Laude. I made the President's Honor Roll both semesters of my Senior Year with a 4.0 GPA. I am currently attending the miami">University of Miami Miller School of Medicine working towards a Masters in Public Health. My ultimate goal is to attend medical school and become a doctor.
My senior year in high school is when I began miami">tutoring. I was asked to volunteer as a peer miami">tutor and helped students in various math courses after school. During my summer and winter breaks of college, I continued being a math miami">tutor on my own and would travel to the students' houses each week. Beginning in my Junior Year of college, I became a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami. Much of the time I spent with my little at his elementary school consisted of helping him with his math and english homework.
As a miami">tutor, I believe in making each subject interesting and relatable to every student. I like students to attempt a problem or explain a concept on their own, and then I strengthen their understanding by going over ways to remember and relate this information to concepts they are familiar with. I do not like to just list information without an explanation, but instead develop a conversation where I answer their questions and ask them questions to master the subject matter. I also believe in teaching my students how to be organized, set short term and long term goals, and become more self-motivated. These skills are pertinent to accomplish every goal, not just academic ones.
