About Me
I am a senior at DePaul University working on attaining my degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. I hope to attend the chicago">University of Illinois at Chicago to acquire a Doctorate in Pharmacy. My aspiration is to work in Pharmacy, doing research in developing and advanced medicine.
I began chicago">tutoring at the Don Moyer Boys and Girls club working with youth as young as 7 and as old as 14 years of age. I currently facilitate an after-school program called PODER, translates from spanish meaning 'power' and is also an acronym meaning 'Positive Outcome Delivered through Education and Respect, for a non-profit organization. We offer chicago">tutoring and extracurricular activities for 5th through 8th graders in Chicago Public Schools. My passion to educate youth has brought me to Frog chicago">Tutoring where I am excited to continue the venture in fostering knowledge within our youth.
Having worked with a vast variety of learners I have myself learned that we all grasp knowledge and understand things in different ways. My approach to chicago">tutoring is to meet the student where they stand, build off the information they know and guide them to manifest solutions themselves. I do not give answers, instead I try to answer a question with a question. At first this might seem tedious, I know because my high school teachers did it to me, but the result is enhanced critical thinking skills and a greater sense of awareness and confidence in a student's intellect.
