Fun Facts

A couple random facts about me are that I have lived in Australia for a year when I was younger, I have season tickets to the New York Giants, and I hate roller coasters. Since living in Australia, I have never been outside the country (will be changing that for Spring Break this year thankfully!). I come from a big family (2 younger brothers, 2 younger sisters) and love spending time with each of them. I've played the piano for over 10 years and enjoy playing some of my favorite songs on it.

About Me

Hey guys,
My name is Dan, and I'm a Junior Biology major at Villanova University. I am originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, and have two younger brothers and two younger sisters. I love spending time with people, which is one of the many reasons why I want to be a doctor when I'm older. I believe I have a knack for communicating seemingly tough concepts in simpler terms for students to understand - that's how I find myself teaching myself all the time!

Back in High School, I tutored for three years as a part of being a member of the National Honor Society. I tutored in math, history, and Latin. The students were all fellow high school students, so it was easy to relate to them and teach them in simple terms how to learn a particular concept.
My approach to philadelphia">tutoring is based on preparation, repetition, and confidence. Preparation is important to me because I believe it is necessary, as a philadelphia">tutor, to know a great deal about the subject matter so that the student trusts you right from the beginning of the session. If a student can tell right away that you are very knowledgeable in the subject, then they will feel confident confiding in you what they don't understand and will trust you to give them the right answers. If it is obvious that the philadelphia">tutor is having trouble remembering how to do a subject, the student will immediately lose trust in the philadelphia">tutor and will thus lose his attention. Secondly, repetition is important to implant and tattoo a particular concept into one's brain. It's easy for one to grasp a concept after trying it a couple times. The real battle lies an hour or two later (or even longer, a week or two later). Through repetition, the student can learn concepts for longer periods of time and thus will have a firmer grasp on how to handle it. Lastly, confidence is an invaluable tool I like to impart to students.
