Biology Tutoring

I took Biology twice during high school, once in 9th grade and again as a senior AP class. I got a 4 on the Biology AP exam. I am majoring in Biology at TCU, as well. I feel like I have a very good grip on the Biology material taught at the high school level.

Homework Coach Tutoring

I had a 4.41 GPA in high school and managed to balance my time between four sports, several leadership positions, and social activities. I feel like I can give helpful insight on how to plan and manage homework, as well as provide advice on how to use homework as a study tool instead of an obligation.

Study Skills Tutoring

In order to be a successful student, study skills are a must. By working one-on-one with individuals, I have helped many students come up with what method of studying works best for them in their particular subject. I think time management is a huge part of learning to study effectively and I have compiled my best strategies for this. In order to maintain my GPA, I have to work on these skills all the time, so I am constantly reminded of which skills work best.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

I scored a 36 on my ACT reading comprehension section and excelled as a reader from a young age. I work with students to identify what they find difficult about comprehending reading and develop strategies with them to overcome these problems.

Science Tutoring

Science has been my favorite subject all throughout school and I pursued multiple science classes later in my high school career. My major is Biology and I am on the pre-med track, meaning I take lots of science classes and spend lots of time in labs. Because of my passion for science, I love sharing my methods of achieving success in these subjects with students. I work with kids to identify what about the subject they are struggling with is difficult and work towards them improving their skills to handle the subject and succeed.

I scored a 5 on the English Composition AP test and I excelled in my English classes all throughout middle and high school.

I have been a proficient writer and reader all of my life, scoring a 36 on the Reading and English sections of the ACT, and making a 5 on the English Composition AP test. I believe that my success in these subjects came from my instruction early on in life. I work with students to express their ideas better in their writing and to improve their relationship with reading by helping them discover their own interests.

Math Tutoring

I have been a successful math student all of my life and believe that good study skills for math are essential. My tutoring focus in math is to show how homework problems are tools to learn the material and study, instead of them just being busy work. I am currently taking a statistics class at TCU that draws on many basic principles, like percentages, proportions, and probability.

Being successful in social studies or history classes is all about learning how to study for them. My focus when tutoring in these subjects is to teach students how to best learn and understand the material they are given.
