I am currently working as an independent comic book writer and publisher with Red Hunting Hat Comics. My writing has its roots in my passion for geek culture, which includes avid convention-going, gaming, comic book reading, and borderline obsessive TV show watching and analysis. I have a history in sports journalism, having worked for the blog Bleeding Yankee Blue as a Staff Writer for two years. I am also a guitarist and vocalist, and I enjoy recording in my spare time.
About Me
I am a sophomore majoring in Psychology at New York University. After college, I plan to attend graduate school to get my Ph. D in Psychology. My aspiration is to be both a writer, likely in comic books, and a university professor. In high school I was a member of both the California Scholarship Federation and National Honors Society.
Experience
As the son of a teacher, I have worked with students for years. I often visited her class to give them special lessons. This was usually something simple like reading a book and discussing it, but on certain occasions, I introduced them to entirely new concepts, such as Chemistry. More recently, I was the private English/Writing tutor for two boys entering fifth grade. My experience teaching kids also extends beyond academics, as I have served as a camp counselor and coach for Camp Surf's Be
Approach
I like to establish a more personal connection with the student; I believe that convincing them I am not just an extension of their often tedious school day is crucial to their experience with me. To do this, I try to get an idea of their interests early on, and incorporate them into lessons when I can. I also aim to have a schedule that is effective, yet flexible. It never helps to fall behind, but students are not machines and it is important to go at their pace.
