Fun Facts
I enjoy reading adventure novels and watching movies, except for those in the horror genre. I love to draw, however, I don't think I'm amazing at it. I enjoy listening to music, from classic rock to modern pop. I am currently learning how to play percussion instruments and am currently part of my school's marching band. I have two siblings, a younger brother and a younger sister, and two dogs, a Toy Poodle and a Cockapoo.
About Me
I am a freshman Nursing major at the University of San Francisco. I graduated from Northgate High School in Walnut Creek, California with a 4.0 GPA.
Experience
During my sophomore year of high school, I became part of the tutoring program at my school, where I became a mentor for students with Ds and Fs. I met with a small group of my peers three times a week to mentor them in mainly Math and English, but also all other subject areas. I remained a mentor for the remainder of my time in high school. Now that I am in college, I want to continue helping others learn and succeed in their goals.
Approach
As a mentor, I learned that many students who were struggling had a lot of potential to do well, but they struggled with either understanding the content or having the right study skills to apply the content in class. I found that many students benefited from figuring out the material in a way they can understand it, using mnemonics, repetition or just seeing it in a different way. I also think that positive encouragement and a positive attitude is essential in learning.

Nursing
Anatomy Physiology I Tutoring
In high school I took Physiology Honors and Sports Medicine, in which I received an A in both courses. I took two years of Sports Medicine, in which, during my second year, I tutored the 1st years in anatomy. Currently, I am taking Human Anatomy as part of my Nursing course requirement.
AP History Tutoring
In high school, I took AP World History and received an A in the class. I subsequently took the AP exam and received a score of 5. I have never formally tutored in this subject, but I have aided younger students with tips on succeeding on the test. Due to that class, I still have a passion for history and still retain the information learned in the class.
English Tutoring
In high school, I took English I, II, III and AP English Language, receiving a grade of A for each course. Currently, I am taking Rhetoric and Composition in college. I tutored Sophomore English and Junior English in high school, where I helped students with essay writing and reading comprehension.
Geometry Tutoring
When I was in high school, I took Geometry. I earned an A in the subject. I tutored in that specific subject area for a year in my high school.
History Tutoring
I took AP World History, U.S. History, Government, Economics and Human Rights Education in high school. I earned an A in all of these courses. I have never formally tutored this subject, but I do have a passion for history and what we can learn from it.
Statistics Tutoring
I have taken AP Statistics during my senior year of high school. I received an A in the course and I took the AP Exam, in which I received a score of 4. I tutored math for two years in high school.
Biology Tutoring
I took Biology, with a grade of A, and AP Biology with a grade of B. I took the AP Exam for AP Biology, earning a score of 4. Currently, I am taking Biology: Human Anatomy in accordance with my Nursing courses.
Psychology Tutoring
I took AP Psychology during high school, earning a grade of A. I took the AP Exam for the course and I received a 5. I have never formally tutored in this subject before, but I have helped others with learning the vocabulary that is required in this course.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have taken English I, II, III and AP English Language and Composition. I have received an A in all of these courses. I tutored English for a year in high school and during my senior year, I aided ESL students with reading comprehension.
Science Tutoring
I have taken Biology (earning an A), Honors Chemistry (earning a B), Honors Physiology (earning an A), Sports Medicine (earning an A), and AP Biology (earning a B). I took the AP Biology Exam and earned a 4 on the exam. I am currently taking Biology: Human Anatomy for my nursing courses.
Writing Tutoring
In high school, I took English I, II, III and AP English Language and Composition and received an A in all of these courses. Currently, I am taking Rhetoric and Composition at University of San Francisco. I have tutored Sophomore and Junior English during high school and have helped students with topic selection, with writing their essay and with revision help.

Currently, I am taking Rhetoric and Composition at the University of San Francisco. I have tutored Sophomore and Junior English back in high school and have helped students with topic selection, with writing their essay and with revision help.
AP English Tutoring
I have taken AP English Language and Composition and earned a grade of A. I did take the AP English Language and Composition Exam and earned a score of 5 on the exam. I have tutored English before and would help students with both the writing and the reading comprehension portion of the exam.
Math Tutoring
I have taken Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Geometry, with As and Bs in the subjects. I have tutored geometry and algebra for two years. I have also taken some higher level math classes, such as Algebra II, Trigonometry and Statistics.
