Fun Facts
During my junior year of undergraduate, I was able to study abroad in Athens, Greece. This allowed me to travel around Europe and experience different cultures and traditions. After this experience, I am eager to travel further and am hoping to go to the Himalayas.
About Me
I graduated from Seattle University in June of 2018 with a major in Cell and Molecular Biology and a minor in History. I was on the Dean's List for 16 quarters in college and on the President's List for 4 quarters. I spent the year following my graduation serving with the AmeriCorps on the Flathead Reservation. My career goal is to be a family medicine physician in a rural community.
Experience
I have tutored pre-school, elementary, middle, high school, undergraduate, and graduate-level students. I have also tutored ELS students and students newly immigrated. I have experience working with at-risk youth and am particularly specialized in teaching study skills and promoting academic motivation.
Approach
Having dyslexia, I understand that sometimes it takes time to learn a concept or understand how to consider a problem. As a tutor, I work alongside my students to understand and best accommodate their pace and method of learning. I ensure I provide auditory explanations as well as visual representations to enhance understanding. I encourage critical thinking and offer positive academic motivation and support.
