Fun Facts
Even though I live and grew up in the humidity of Houston, I love spending time outdoors. I played tennis almost every day growing up, and I used to love hiking along the Brazos River that was basically in my backyard. I also enjoy traveling, and I spent a semester in London exploring both the UK and Europe!
About Me
I am a senior Ecology and Evolutionary Biology major at Rice University. I have been on the President's Honor Roll every semester at Rice, hold a 4.0 GPA, and have been conducting research in my department (that has resulted in two publications!). I plan on attending medical school after graduating, and I hope to become a pediatrician in the future.
Experience
Tutoring has been a way for me to give back to my community. At Rice, I have been involved with school organizations that allow me to tutor at after-school daycares and local elementary schools. As part of the Big Brother Big Sister program, I have been helping three sisters in elementary and middle school with all subjects in their curriculum. Additionally, I have been a teaching assistant for my major department during my time in college.
Approach
I grew up learning to know the answers to homework rather than to understand the concepts of what I was learning. I realize after having been through four years of college that this approach only works for a limited amount of time before studying gets more and more difficult. As a student and a tutor, I approach learning as a way of learning concepts rather than answers. In my experience, this has been successful not only for homework but also in the long-term.

In college, I received A's in Physics and Differential Equations, which both required a strong understanding of Algebra.
Elementary Statistics Tutoring
I took Elementary Statistics in 12th grade of high school and received AP credit for the course in college. I am currently in college level biostatistics, which builds on the information learned in elementary statistics.
Math Tutoring
I have had a multitude of experiences in math classes since high school. I came into college with AP credit for calculus and statistics, and I have used the information in those classes to get A's in Physics, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra.
Study Skills Tutoring
Studying is a skill that takes time to develop, and I have learned through my experiences juggling many course hours with extracurriculars to manage my time well. Holding a 4.0 GPA, I know what has been successful in keeping up with my classes without getting too stressed.
