Fun Facts
I always say that life would be more exciting if I lived in a musical. I love musicals and karaoke! I also enjoy reading and yes I am definitely one of the few people who always prefers the book to the movie... every time. I have just recently started kickboxing and yoga because stairs and inclines just tend to do something to my lungs. My current passion project is my unofficial nonprofit in the making, a platform that raises mental health awareness.
About Me
I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor's in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology. I earned several academic merits such as the honor roll, Dean's List and President's List during my academic career. Currently working on applying to Masters Programs in Physician Assistant Studies and establishing a non-profit platform that promotes mental health and wellness awareness in my community.
Experience
During undergrad, I was a supplemental instructor for genetics and chemistry for two and a half years. It was one of the best experiences of my life because not only did I have the privilege of being able to connect with people from different walks of life but I was also challenged and stretched outside of my comfort zone. I learned how to effectively communicate, get of over my fear of public speaking, and to stay true to who I am.
Approach
As a SI (supplemental instructor) my approach was very simple. Take a complex concept and break it down to its basic components then take those components and make it relatable. Once it's relatable you can build back up again to what once seemed like a complex concept. My motto both in school and in life is that every expert once started as a novice and if they can do then I can too!
