The above quote perfectly summarizes my philosophy and approach toward Homework Coaching. I am able to instill routines for homework, and guide students to take responsibility for their work with long-term goals in mind.

Math Tutoring

I am experienced teaching/tutoring Mathematics Instruction, Number Concepts and Operations, Patterns and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, Probability and Statistics, and Mathematical Processes. I passed the Content Exam on my first attempt to become a Certified Teacher. I also taught Math daily to 4th graders and prepared them for the Math STAAR exam.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

I am proficient in teaching and tutoring Reading Comprehension and Applications, Vocabulary Development, Reading, Inquiry and Research, Word Analysis and Identification Skills, and Reading Fluency.
I prepared 4th grade students for the Reading STAAR Exam and worked with students both individually and groups on a daily basis to improve Reading Comprehension.

Science Tutoring

I am a certified and experienced teacher and tutor for Science in the following areas:
Forces and Motion, Physical and Chemical Properties of Matter, Energy and Interactions, Energy Transformations and Conservation, Structure and Function of Living Things, Reproduction and Heredity, Adaptations, Organisms and the Environment, Structure and Function of Earth Systems, Cycles in Earth Systems, Energy in Weather and Climate, Solar System and the Universe, Safe and Proper Lab Processes, History and Nature of Science, Impact on Science in Daily Life, Concepts and Processes in Science.

I hold a minor in History from Texas Christian University, and am certified as a teacher and experienced in teaching and tutoring Social Studies in the following areas:
Social Science Instruction, History, Geography and Culture, Economics, Government and Citizenship.
I also planned and delivered lessons and facilitated learning in all areas of Social Studies in a 4th grade classroom.

Study Skills Tutoring

Throughout my years as a student, and now teacher, I have honed in on my ability to study efficiently and effectively. I believe that everyone has their own unique way to study that works best for them, and I am able to guide students through various exercises and practices to help them discover not only how to enjoy studying, but to study well.

My experience in tutoring revolved around Study Skills for elementary students and I led weekly study skills tutoring in the mornings at an elementary school.

Writing Tutoring

I am proficient and qualified to tutor Writing in the following areas:
Writing Conventions, Written Communication, Oral Language, Phonological and Phonemic Awareness, and the Alphabetic Principle. I also taught and practiced Writing daily to 4th graders and prepared them for the Writing STAAR exam.

Through my planned test preparation, our class saw continuous improvement on practice exams as I was able to identify the weak and strong points. Focusing on what needed to be improved was quintessential in preparing them for all types of questions.

STAAR Prep Tutoring

As a Certified EC-6 teacher, I assisted in STAAR prep for 4th grade students. Through my planned test preparation, our class saw continuous improvement on practice exams as I was able to identify their individual weak and strong points. Focusing on what needed to be improved was quintessential in preparing them for all types of questions across all subjects.
