Fun Facts
Even though I'm a Classically trained piano and guitarist, I love to play and sing to jazz and pop songs on both instruments with my sisters. You can always find me listening to music or playing it on the courtyard outside the dorm. I am the oldest of three, and between the three of us we speak five languages and play six instruments. I'm a terrible dancer, but I'd like to learn how to dance waltzes, since I play them so frequently for performances.
About Me
I am a freshman double major in music and neuroscience at Yale University, with a concentration in historical performance. After I graduate, I hope to receive a Master's Degree in historical performance, before applying to medical school. My ultimate goal is to study transmissible spongiform encephalopathies, and the use of sound therapy for treatment of brain disorders.
Experience
I graduated with high honors from Miss Porter's School, spending four years as a tutor in music theory and music performance, English, Spanish, biology, and mathematics. Before college, I spent two summers as a C.I.T. and one summer as a counselor at the Kew-Forest School, where I helped prepare lesson plans, syllabi, and tutored students individually during the day. Upon entering college, I continued to work as a peer tutor in music and biology.
Approach
After two concussions my freshman year of high school, I quit sports to focus on academics. Because I attended boarding school, I needed to motivate myself: I bought a planner and digital alarm clock, completely switched around my sleep schedule, and became a far more productive student. As a tutor, I try to focus on small behavioral changes that can have a large impact on effectively retaining information, more importantly a positive outlook and a creative, self-motivated mind.

Music
Algebra Tutoring
I have many years of experience in mathematics, studying pre algebra, algebra, geometry & trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, and statistics throughout high school. I scored a 740 on the old SAT in math, and a 33 on the ACT math section. As a neuroscience double major, I spend a lot of time using basic practical math in chemistry and biological settings.
Astronomy Tutoring
In high school I studied 2 semesters of high level astronomy and astrophysics through the use of Fermi-LAT tools, with a specialization in AGN. I spent a summer semester studying planetary astronomy at Hofstra University. I scored the top grade in my astronomy classes in both schools.
Biology AP Tutoring
With an A in AP Biology, I studied biology and genetics for two years in high school, doubling in sciences for nearly every semester. I scored 4th place in the state for anatomy & physiology, and 5th for protein modeling. I am currently a neuroscience and music double major at Yale University, studying the effect of music on the brain.

With 4 years of English throughout high school, I maintained an A average in every English course I took following freshman year. I scored a 35 on the ACT English section, a 790 on SAT Writing, and 5's on both AP English exams.

Study Skills Tutoring
I overloaded every semester of high school, as well as during my first semester of college, learning to balance a varsity sport, heading a diversity on-campus group, Juilliard precollege, Hartt community division, and high school all at once, even during the college application process. I am highly organized and efficient with study skills.
