I have taught reading / English language arts in the elementary school setting for 8 years and tutored it for 6. In order to become a master reader students need instruction in phonics, sight word reading, fluency, and comprehension. With continued work and practice I can build those skills into a student helping them to be successful.

From my past and present experiences, I have taught children from all over the world the English language both in-person and online. I use a combination of visual models, acting out, and continual practice in helping the ESL learner being able to understand and speak the English language.We speak, we read, and we write, and listen to others. Homework Coach Tutoring

Most children have weekly homework assignments that must be completed before they return to school the next day. I understand the headache as a parent of having to complete those weekly assignments with your children, I will gladly help your child complete his assignments taking the burden off of you to handle making sure that your child completes his assignments with quality work and has learned the intended skill that was to be reinforced in completing the homework.

In being a good reader, students must be able to understand what they are reading in order for their reading to be worthwhile and effective. By teaching your child phonics skills and building their fluency, students can be successful in their reading comprehension. With that, it is also important to teach your child the elements of a reading passages and what to look for when they are reading. Integrating graphic organizers and teaching students the various elements of reading builds a strong reader with good reading comprehension skills.

Social Studies Tutoring

Teaching social studies is teaching children about the world we live in and different components that make up our wonderful world. Learning about our history as humans, the physical makeup of the world, and the astonishing places found within our world combined with the many different cultures and governments of people found throughout our world's continents, student have a better grasp of who they are, where they came from, and what they can become in the future. Through, hands on learning, I can help your child understand more about the world where they live and who they are as people and citizens.

STAAR Math Tutoring

I have a 100% passing rate for students I have tutored in passing the math 3rd-6th grade math STAAR. By reteaching and practicing the concepts tested on the STAAR, I can help your child see what the question is asking for and how they would go about solving the problem. As the STAAR is your child's yearly evaluation of what they learned in math and reading, It is important that they do well on this test and I can help them do that.

STAAR Reading Tutoring

The STAAR reading test can be difficult for many elementary students as students must read many reading passages and be able to answer specific questions about each passage based on the comprehension skills that they were taught over the year, I can break down each of these skills and teach your child how to look for the important details found in the passage. I can also teach your child how to tackle reading the passages where they are able to understand and internalize each passage that they are reading where they will be successful!
