Fun Facts

I've lived in NYC for over a decade, and I enjoy the city's wealth of cultural offerings. I run my own website devoted to cultural criticism, and I love honing the critical faculties of students, providing them with a better understanding of the world around them. I'm also a grammar nerd, and I can explain the difference between a gerund and an infinitive without breaking a sweat.

About Me

I received my MA and BA in English from New York University. My GPA in my MA program was a 4.0, my GPA in my BA program was a 3.96, and I scored an 800 on the verbal section of the GRE. I'm a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and I currently work at a literary agency and run my own website. I hope to continue advancing in the field of digital media.

During the past year, I've tutored students at elite NYC prep schools in writing, English, test prep, and college-preparatory skills. I've also previously worked with both undergraduate and graduate students at brooklyn-college">Brooklyn College who needed to develop their writing and reading-comprehension/new-york/brooklyn">reading comprehension skills. I've tutored ESL students, honor students, those who struggle with language, and those who simply want to hone the verbal skills they possess. I truly enjoy helping students develop a love for language and writing.

I believe that students will excel in almost all subjects if they have a firm grounding in language skills. I believe in teaching basic grammar and essay structure because students can be much more creative and thoughtful once they have mastered the basics, which I feel are often not taught in the classroom. I also believe in teaching students how to think critically and analyze written and visual material so that they can synthesize information in order to come up with their own complex ideas. I believe that all students can become excellent writers if they are pushed to think critically and write carefully.
